Maritime Safety Queensland Port Restrictions Update

20/3/2020

To our Valued Customers,

We have received a notification from the Freight Alliance Network regarding restrictions being imposed in Queensland.

They have advised the following:

“Maritime Safety Queensland (MSQ) are banning all commercial vessels from entering ports in Queensland if the ship, or person onboard, had been in any country outside of Australia within the last 14 days.

Freight & Trade Alliance (FTA) advised they supported the actions of Shipping Australia to reverse the ban as an “all of industry” approach.

They have received advise that following approaches by various industry groups and businesses that MSQ have made exemptions to the directive for the following countries NZ PNG and South West Pacific Nations (to be defined by specific island states). FTA trust similar considerations are given to other close neighbouring countries.”
