DP WORLD - NATIONAL INDUSTRIAL ACTION

16/7/2020

To our Valued Customers,

We have received advice that the Maritime Union of Australia (MUA) intend to restart Protected Industrial Action (PIA) at all four of DP World Australia (DPWA) terminals nationally.

The effect of the bans varies across terminals and advised PIA includes work stoppages, limited various bans on employees working in tasks above their normal grade, overtime, shift extensions, accepting late call-ins, and ceasing advanced or delayed start times.

Current stoppages and disruptions are scheduled as follows;

FREMANTLE – commencing Saturday 18 July

  • Stoppage of work for 1 hour, three times every day, at 01:30, 09:30 and 17:45
  • All terminal operations will be stopped during these hours
  • Work restrictions

SYDNEY – commencing Saturday 18 July

  • Work restrictions

MELBOURNE – commencing Tuesday 21 July

  • Stoppage of work for 2 hours, three times every day, at 05:00, 13:00, and 21:00
  • All terminal operations will be stopped during these hours
  • Work restrictions

BRISBANE – commencing Tuesday 21 July

  • Stoppage of work for 1 hour, three times every day, at 06:00, 14:00 and 22:00
  • During these 1-hour stoppages, vessel operations and non-automated yard operations will be stopped, and there will be no road operation in the Old Yard
  • Landside receival and delivery operations to the automated modules will continue as normal.
  • Work restrictions

The above industrial action adds to the challenge in keeping container freight moving during COVID-19. Further complications have occurred in recent days due to weather events, port and landside congestion and vessel schedule alterations.
