Please find below the current COVID situation in China. 

China reported 42 new confirmed cases on August 17th, including 36 imported cases (15 cases in Yunnan, 9 cases in Guangdong, 7 cases in Shanghai, 2 cases in Guangxi, 1 case in Shandong, 1 case in Sichuan, and 1 case in Shaanxi ) and 6 local cases (3 cases in Jiangsu and 3 cases in Hunan);

No new deaths; 1 new suspected case (imported from abroad in Shanghai). 

As per the National Heath Commission Director Mr. Ma, China is determined to get the pandemic under control by the end of August to let the society return to normal as soon as possable.

 “Back-to-school season will start in September, and tertiary institutions and secondary and primary schools will start as scheduled,” National Health Commission director Ma Xiaowei said on August 16th

As of August 17, 2021, there are 29 high-risk areas, 98 medium-risk areas, 1 city marked as key areas by the local government in China, and 1 City in Jiangsu Province with confirmed COVID-19 cases confirmed but have yet been included in medium/high-risk areas.
