DP World Announces further increases to their Terminal Infrastructure Levy & VBS Fees

2/10/2018

To our Valued Customers,

DP World Australia have broadcasted that there will be an increase in their “Terminal Infrastructure Levies” for all import & export containers going into/out of their East Coast terminals - Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane, and will come into effect from 1 January 2019.

DPWA Media Release 26 September 2018 - DP World to Adjust Charges

Further to the Terminal Infrastructure increase on the East Coast, DP World will also be increasing their Vehicle Time Slot booking Fee (VBS) in all of its Australian container terminals.

If these proceed on 1 January 2019, then since April 2017, DP World Australia will have imposed Infrastructure Charge increases levied on transport operators of 1024% in Melbourne, 247% in Sydney and 86% in Brisbane, with no negotiation, no transparency, and no ability for transport operators to resist.

DPWA has responded to previous industry concerns, however the market cannot accept the quantum, timing or reasons provided for the increase. Industry have warned the ACCC that inaction would see industry faced with regular and significant increases at the terminal gate, which is exactly what we see today.
