CFS Depots - introduce Infrastructure levies

18/10/2017

Dear Customer,

Further to previous broadcasts on Infrastructure levies being introduced by Stevedores across the nation, there has been recent announcements by a number of CFS (Container Freight Station) depots introducing similar levies.

A CFS (Container Freight Station) depot is a licenced Customs & Quarantine facility that is generally engaged to facilitate the bonded unpacking of FAK  / LCL shipments along with conducting a variety of inspection for both Customs & Quarantine departments.

Despite an industry uproar after the first CFS levy was announcement last month, a further 4 CFS operators have implemented similar levies across Australia starting in November.

Currently the following CFS depots are imposing the Infrastructure levy, with no doubt more to be announced;

  • Qube Logistics
  • ACFS Port Logistics
  • ANJ Container Services
  • Trojan Bond
  • Price & Speed Containers

Fees vary from depot to depot based on services required, some including;

  • LCL Unpack:                                       $7.00 - $9.50 per cbm
  • FCL unpack / inspections:             $25.00 - $30.00 per container

The charge will be levied to parties contracting these services such as  Customs Brokers, Freight Forwarders & Transport companies.

We understand this will have a significant impact on customers as providers are left with no option than to pass on these additional costs.

Please contact your BRi customer service representative if you have any further questions.

Keeping you updated,
