Brown Marmorated Stink Bug (BMSB) Season - Update for Importers

17/8/2018

To Our Valued Customers,

Previous BRi news bulletins have alerted customers to the upcoming BMSB season and its impact on shipments originating in BMSB countries which are shipped between 1 September 2018 and 30 April 2019.

Much industry consultation has taken place (and continues to do so) in relation to FAK / LCL consignments. The Department of Agriculture & Water Resources (DAWR) have informed industry that all FAK or LCL cargo will require offshore treatment, using an approved offshore treatment provider, to enable clearance in Australia.  The DAWR will not allow onshore treatment of untreated FAK/LCL cargo arriving from target risk countries (USA, Italy, Germany, France, Russia, Greece, Hungary, Romania and Georgia). Such goods will therefore require re-export or destruction.

Approved offshore treatment providers are listed at the following link, and updated daily :-

Should the current consultation between industry and the DAWR result in changes to policy we will update customers immediately.

Feel free to contact your BRi Customer Service Representative, should you have any further queries or concerns in relation to this matter.

Keeping you updated,
