Dear Valued Customers 

Reference is made to our previous notice dated 3rd November 2023.  

As you are aware Government bodies (both federal & state) have little/no legislative powers to pricing mechanism controls to manage or limit the shipping terminal fees.

With Terminal operators having free reign in recent years this has resulted increases outstripping the general inflation rate.

 

This is continuing into 2024 with the next round of increases taking effect from 1st January 2024.

 

These increases effect 3 categories of ancillary charges.

• Time slot fees
• Terminal infrastructure
• Empty Container Chain fees

While each terminal in each state varies slightly as a general average, this will result in increases within a range of $10 - $20 across each of these categories.

 

BR, along with our industry bodies (CBFCA & FTA) will continue to lobby government for change & the implementation of a financial regulator mechanism with the power to enforce a cap or limitation of increases.
