Footscray Road Closure: West Gate Tunnel Project (WGTP)

 

Due to works being undertaken as part of the Westgate Tunnel Project, Footscray Road will be closed between

12 January 2023 and 27 June 2023.

 

As you may be aware, Footscray Road provides the only access for trucks to both Patrick Stevedores and DP World.

Whilst Transport providers can still access the port via Dock Link Road from the Footscray Road service lane (diverted into a

single lane), there will undoubtedly be congestion created in the Footscray Road precinct and surrounding

areas (Dynon Road, Moore Street, Whitehall Road, and Geelong Road etc.) as a result of the closure and

associated detours.

 

Footscray Road is also a designated High Productivity Freight Vehicle route for access to VICT at HML weights

(greater than 68.5T gross) as vehicles at these weights are not permitted access over Westgate Bridge or Bolte

Bridge. With detours in place, delays are expected working to/from this terminal.

 

This will impact our operations. We will monitor this situation over the

coming weeks.
