Department of Agriculture, Water and the Environment (DAWE) Import Permit Application Delays

5/3/2020

To our Valued Customers,

BR International would like to inform our Customs clearance clients of current delays in the processing of import permit applications lodged with the Department of Agriculture, Water and the Environment (“Quarantine”). Such applications would normally take 3-5 weeks to be approved. The department have informed BRi that this timeframe has been extended due to the relocation of key staff during the second half of the BMSB season. Applications are now taking over 3 months to be processed.

BR International usually send reminder alerts to our customers one month prior to the expiration date on current DAWE import permits. In view of the extended processing time we will now be sending initial reminders 100 days prior to expiration of valid DAWE import permits. This will enable adequate time in which to make application for new permits.

The DAWE have informed us the extended processing time is a temporary concern. Normal processing times should resume once the current BMSB season finishes. BRI will then revert back to our usual reminder period of one month.

Please make contact with your BRi Customs Department, should you have any queries in relation to this matter.

Keeping you updated
