BROWN MARMORATED STINK BUG (BMSB) - SEASON 2019-2020

21/6/2019

To our Valued Customers,

BRi wish to inform our clients that there have been some developments since we informed you of the Department of Agriculture and Water Resources’ (DAWR) proposed measures for the next BMSB season.  Feedback and suggestions from industry have been considered by the DAWR and the following matters have been finalised: -

  • LCL / FAK cargo will have the option to be treated onshore. While the DAWR’s preferred position is off shore treatment of such goods, industry strongly supported retaining an on shore treatment option and the DAWR have agreed to continue with this process
  • A revised definition of the end of the BMSB risk season. The season end will now be defined as the arrival of goods and vessels in Australia by 31 May, 2020.

Additional information with regard to roll on roll off (RO-RO) vessels will be announced soon.

BRi will continue to update our clients as further information comes to hand.

Feel free to contact your BRi Customs Representative should you have any further queries or concerns in relation to this matter.

Keeping you updated,

BRi Customs Team
