24HR OPERATIONS - EMPTY CONTAINER DEPOTS TO FOLLOW INDUSTRY CHANGE

2/11/2015

It’s hard to believe it was six years ago when East Coast Stevedores moved to 24/7 operations.

We all recall the huge operational shift transport companies had to go through to cope with such a change.

Ever since, there has been a serious imbalance within the industry as they have had to battle with empty parks that only operated between 6.00am – 3.30pm on week days.

Finally things are changing with confirmation of the first operation in Australia to open it’s empty depots 24 hours per day, five days per week in all Eastern States (QLD, NSW & VIC).

No doubt this is news the industry has been waiting for as this will significantly assist logistic operations and allow further flexibility to importers /exporters as the  industry further promotes the need for 24hr operations in the container supply chain.

The challenge now will be for the industry to respond by taking full advantage of these extended hours.

We will continue to work with all parties to realise the full benefits that these important developments can bring to the logistics chain.

Keeping you updated,
