Patrick Stevedores - Announces further increases to their Terminal Infrastructure Levy

To our Valued Customers,

Further to our newsletter below dated 12 Dec 18, in relation to DP World Infrastructure increases, it has just been announced that Patrick Stevedores have followed and will be implementing similar increases across all states.

This will add further cost to importers with dramatic increases from the commencement of this levy.

Industry representatives look forward to meeting the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC), to discuss this, the spate of emerging surcharges and other matters affecting the competitiveness of the Australian international trade and logistics sectors.

We will keep you posted as information comes to hand.

DP World Announces further increases to their Terminal Infrastructure Levy & VBS Fees

Wednesday, 12 December 2018

To our Valued Customers,

DP World Australia have broadcasted that there will be an increase in their “Terminal Infrastructure Levies” for all import & export containers going into/out of their East Coast terminals - Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane, and will come into effect from 1 January 2019.

Further to the Terminal Infrastructure increase on the East Coast, DP World will also be increasing their Vehicle Time Slot Booking Fee (VBS) in all of its Australian container terminals.

Industry bodies are asking the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC), Transport for NSW, the newly established Freight Victoria, the National Freight Strategy team, and our politicians, to actively rein in these practices while we still have a chance.

We would also appeal to Patricks, VICT, Hutchinson and the other stevedores, to show restraint from matching these increases, where it is obvious that they are unwarranted and will be brought to the attention of regulators and lawmakers.

While it may be true that new stevedore cost recovery models are needed, a unilateral price increase, with no negotiation should not be tolerated. Please contact your BRi Customer Solutions Representative, should you require more information or have any questions.

Keeping you updated,

BRi Customer Solutions Team
